“In line with the Health Ministry anti-corruption plan and the Malaysia Digital Economic Blueprint 2021, all ministry facilities will only receive cashless payments through payment modes such as debit cards, credit cards, and e-wallets, beginning October 1st,” said the ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Harjeet Singh.
Harjeet said going cashless is meant to reduce risks of leakages involving public funds, facilitate the payment process, reduce exposure to COVID-19 and cut costs in the revenue collection process.
He also said that the ministry expects 95% of transactions at its hospitals and clinics to be cashless by the end of the year.
