Hacker Reportedly Steals Over 200 Million Twitter Users’ Email Addresses & Shared Them Online

A cybersecurity researcher said on Wednesday (4 December) that hackers have stolen over 200 million Twitter users' email addresses and posted them on an online hacking forum.

The breach "will unfortunately result in a lot of hacking, targeted phishing, and doxxing," said Alon Gal, who is from a cybersecurity monitoring firm, “One of the most sizable leaks I’ve ever seen.”

According to Reuters, Twitter has not commented on the report which Gal first shared on social media on 24 December, nor it has responded to any inquiries about the breach since that date. It was unclear what steps Twitter had taken to investigate or address the issue.

However, Reuters were unable to officially confirm that the data on the forum was legit and came from Twitter.

The screenshots of the hacker forum where the data was leaked have since gone viral on social media.
