COVID-19 Cases In Malaysia Remains Above 5,000 As Of Sunday (July 17th)

Malaysia recorded 5,047 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours which is also the second day that the country recorded over 5,000 cases since April.

This brings the total number of active cases in the country to 4,619,045.

According to the New Straits Times, yesterday was the highest daily figure ever recorded since April 24th.

Selangor and Kuala Lumpur topped the list with 1,925 and 1,365 new cases respectively.

While Perak reported 306 new cases, followed by 276 in Negeri Sembilan, 274 in Sabah and 265 in Penang, 128 in Melaka, 116 in Putrajaya and 113 in Kedah, 74 in Sarawak, 73 in Johor, 56 in Pahang, 37 in Kelantan and 22 in Terengganu. 

Perlis and Labuan reported nine and eight new COVID-19 cases respectively.

The number of COVID-19 cases is slowly rising again, probably due to the new strain of Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5!

Please don’t be complacent and remember to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Get the booster shot if you haven’t, wear a face mask when you’re indoors and remember to wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
