A cook was killed last night (29 December) when a package left on his car exploded in front of a restaurant in Pandan Indah, Ampang Jaya.
In the 8:50 PM incident, the 28-year-old victim wanted to move a package that had been placed on his vehicle after being informed about it by a colleague.

According to Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak, the package exploded when the victim touched it, "The explosion caused serious injuries to the victim's body and hands.
“Members of the public then rushed the victim to Ampang Hospital. However, he died at 9:45 PM while receiving treatment,” he told The Star.
The blast caused the front portion of the car to catch fire. Farouk went on to say that a team of firefighters from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department rushed to the scene to put out the fire.
"We discovered some objects that we believe were part of the explosive that was used near the scene, and we are still investigating," he said.
Ampang Jaya police were conducting investigations into the explosion at the scene of the incident from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM. The Forensics Unit, the Bomb Disposal Unit, and the K-9 Dog Unit were all present.
The case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
