Ji’an county police in the Jianxi Province, China released a statement a few days ago regarding the man’s arrest, saying that he had been passing himself off as a senior colonel in the army’s rocket division for over four years.

The man, who is only known as “Zhu” reportedly showed up for a COVID testing at a hospital in Ao Township dressed in an official uniform that featured all the insignia of a high-ranking officer.

Even though he was carrying documents that looked “official,” the hospital staff still called the police after looking into their database for someone with his title in the Chinese army and they weren’t able to find anyone.

Police then started questioning Zhu, and weren’t satisfied with his answers, which then resulted in Zhu’s arrest. He was later taken to the Ao Township Police Station for further investigation, as reported by Oddity Central.

The man then admitted that he was not a colonel and that he had bought the uniform and identification documents online.
