Today is the first day of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0, which affects several states, namely Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Sabah, as well as the Federal Territories of KL, Putrajaya and Labuan. The order does not allow inter-state and inter-district travel, and most Malaysians took this as a sign to get on the roads yesterday to settle any last minute errands or return to their hometowns.
And get on the road they did!
Yesterday’s rush hour traffic was intense, especially around the Klang Valley. Most major roads in the area saw motorists stuck in 1-hour jams, mainly due to high volumes of traffic.

Of course, not everyone was on the road for MCO-related reasons. The jam also included innocent drivers who were just returning home from work or running basic errands. Unfortunately, they were forced to join the madness as well.
Most drivers took to Twitter to express their annoyance and confusion as to why the traffic was so bad. Here’s a gist of what Twitterjaya had to say about yesterday’s jam...

Also, here’s a reminder that during this MCO 2.0 period which ends 26th January 2021, please stay home if you don’t have any important things to do.
If you do have errands to run, make sure to follow the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOP) and practice good personal hygiene.
