Woman Loses Over RM3K After Purchasing Cats Online

A woman has lodged a police report claiming that she had been cheated, after purchasing two cats through social media.

According to Astro AWANI, Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt. Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said that the 24-year-old woman claimed she had bought two breeds of cat on Instagram, a british shorthair and a british longhair, advertised at RM290 and RM240 respectively.

“The victim said she contacted the seller on WhatsApp after seeing the ads online, and dealt with a man before she transferred money to the bank account four times amounting to RM3,230 for the cats and documentation process,” he said.

However, she became suspicious after the seller kept on asking her for more money citing various reasons, including to obtain the birth certificates for both cats, so she told him that she wanted to cancel the purchase and asked for her money back.

She then lodged a police report after the seller refused to return her money.

The case will be investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, which provides an imprisonment for up to 10 years and whipping and is liable to fine, if found guilty.

Oh no, that’s terrible! Guys please beware of scams especially when you’re shopping online.
