The Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) is due to end on Monday (August 31st), but with the number of daily COVID-19 cases still fluctuating, could it be extended?
Well, we’ll find out later this week.
During his daily press briefing, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will soon give us an update on whether the RMCO will be extended, or not.
“The announcement will be made by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. It will likely be this week, since the announcement (on MCO extensions) is usually made a week before. So let's just wait patiently," he said.
The Health Ministry had earlier called for the RMCO to be extended, based on the World Health Organisation's statement that the coronavirus pandemic is projected to last for at least two years.
As of yesterday (August 25th), Malaysia’s total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 9,285, with 189 cases still active.
