Will The CMCO Be Extended?

Will this conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) be extended, or not?

Health director-general Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah clarifie in his daily press conference (7 May) that the decision to extend or end the CMCO will depend on the current trend of cases both today (8 May) and tomorrow.

“The Health Ministry will still be monitoring the current CMCO period until 12 May, but will observe the trend on 8 and 9 May before advising the Prime Minister on the decisions he will make,” he said.

According to Harian Metro, the Health DG said that Malaysia has no plans to execute any exit strategies despite the current number of new cases that have been reduced consistently to double-digits, which is because of the new cluster of COVID-19 patients found among the security guards in Cheras.

“Whether the CMCO will end or be extended, it will depend on a few factors which include the number of daily COVID-19 cases recorded domestically and the rate of infection,” Dr. Hisham added.

Well, fingers crossed, hopefully, we’ll be able to go back to our normal lives (but still maintaining social distancing and good hygiene!)
