Drivers reported of unusually heavy traffic and a number of accidents to Astro Radio Traffic, from as early as 715am this morning (January 13th).
Starting with the MEX Highway, there were 2 different accidents around the same area. According to Astro Radio Traffic’s report, “One involves 4 cars and an oil spill at KM13.5, only the middle lane is open for traffic. The other accident at Km13.7 is fatal, blocking the left and middle lanes involving a lorry, a tour van, and 2 cars.”
The accident at KM13.7 resulted in the death of a van driver who got stuck between his seat and the back of a lorry.
It also resulted in the injuries of 4 badminton players, including world badminton number one, Kento Momota, who were all in the same van.

The accident caused a 1 hour jam on the highway, up until 9:15am.
However, there were also a number of unusual accidents that happened this morning too, that attributed to the already heavy traffic.
Around 7.15am, officials reported of a car on fire on the NKVE, which caused a 4KM crawl from Setia Alam to Shah Alam.

A picture of the jam was posted by Astro Radio Traffic, but no pictures of the car itself was found.
Later on at 7.45am, it was reported that an accident involving a tanker at KM274.5 was blocking the right and middle lanes from Bandar Ainsdale to Nilai, and was also blocking the right lane on the other side.

This accident caused a hefty 1 hour crawl heading north up until around 9.15, and at 10.15am when this article was written, it was still jammed for half an hour, according to Waze.

In Astro Radio Traffic’s 8.45am report, Wazers reported of a lorry that had crashed into a construction site on the MRR2. It resulted in a 1 hour delay from Taman Melati to Ampang, and there is still currently a jam in the area (as of 10.30am this morning).

Another tanker accident on the PLUS Highway reported at 9.30am blocked the right, middle, and a part of the left lane at KM379.3, and traffic was jammed for up to 2KMs (as of 10.30am this morning).

Accidents on Jalan Skudai in Johor Bahru, and in Tikam Batu, Kedah had also caused delays of up to 1 hour this morning.
So there you have it! We sure hope this explains why you were late to work this morning!
