Not suspecting anything, he did as requested and arrived by 2pm, and as it turned out, he was the one millionth recipient of the AZ vaccine at WTCKL.
According to NST, to mark the special occasion, Zamratulazmi was invited on stage by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who congratulated him.
He was also given a special honour of being administered the second dose of the vaccine by Deputy Health director-general (Research and Technical Support) Datuk Dr. Hishamshah Mohd Ibrahim, who even came prepared in full PPE!
“I was shocked! I thought it was going to be just a simple ceremony. I wasn’t expecting to share the stage with the prime minister,” he said.
He also took the opportunity to urge Malaysians to get themselves vaccinated.
“To those out there who haven’t gotten their vaccines, you have nothing to fear. It is for our own good to protect ourselves from COVID-19.
“We do our part. The rest, we’ll leave it to God,” he said.
The World Trade Centre in KL is Malaysia’s first mega PPV which was established on May 5th, specifically to administer the AstraZeneca vaccine and began with an initial 8,000 doses daily, which later upgraded to 18,000 doses per day.
Since then, the PPV administered its one millionth dose on its 115th day of operation.
One million is a lot of people! Well done, Malaysians!
