With automatic voter registration, this means that anyone above the age of 18 will officially be a voter.
The law to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 and allow automatic voter registration was passed by Parliament in July 2019.
This comes into effect 3 days before Sarawak goes to the polls on December 18th, however, it is unclear whether 18 to 20-year-olds will be allowed to vote in that state election.
The implementation of Undi18 and the automatic voter registration is expected to see some 5.6 million additional voters.
