Have you noticed that there are some shops selling surgical face masks for RM2.00 a piece (when it should only cost you 80 sen).
Some shops are taking advantage of the surging demand for face masks due to the current situation revolving around the coronavirus.

According to The Star, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said officers will conduct checks to ensure traders do not hike up the price of face masks, which are considered a price-controlled item.
The public is now aware and vigilant on the spread of coronavirus, so there might be a possibility of a supply shortage.
These are the five types of face masks to have a fixed maximum ceiling price, which is regulated under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 that consumers need to be aware of:
- One-layered surgical mask with earlobes (RM5/box wholesale, RM7/box retail)
- Two-layered surgical mask with earlobes (RM8/box wholesale, RM10/box retail, RM2.20 per piece)
- Three-layered surgical mask with earlobes (RM25/box wholesale, RM0.80 per piece retail)
- Three-layered tie-on surgical mask (RM30/box wholesale, RM0.80 per piece retail)
- N95 face mask (RM100/box, RM6 per piece)
He also urged members of the public to be vigilant, and to visit the nearest hospital if they are concerned about their health.
