According to BERNAMA, authorities from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) had inspected the pharmacy following complaints from the public.

KPDNHEP Gombak Branch chief enforcement officer Azli Aripin ordered for the pharmacy to be investigated.

An enforcement officer went undercover as a customer and found that the pharmacy was selling two-ply face masks at RM1 each, while the controlled price is only RM0.20 each.

Astro Awani reported that the punishment is in line with Section 11 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act.

The pharmacy is required to pay the fine within 14 days.

Be careful when you’re buying face masks, or hand sanitizers - there might be people who just want to take advantage of the situation!
