As such, Khairy Jamaluddin says Malaysia will not emulate some European countries, which no longer require the wearing of face masks.
"Countries such as Germany and Austria are facing a fresh Covid-19 wave that is quite huge, which emerged due to the low vaccination rate and after COVID-19 prevention measures - such as wearing face masks - have been cast aside.”
“Malaysia will not do away with the (mask-wearing) SOP”, says Khairy.
WHO director for the 53-country Europe region, Dr Hans Kluge, was quoted as saying that rising COVID-19 cases was a "grave concern".
He blamed the relaxation of public health measures for rising infections in Europe.
