Taman Tasik Titiwangsa Closed After Receiving Too Many Visitors During CMCO

It hasn’t been that long since the government implemented the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) with its more relaxed regulation and already Malaysians are abusing it by flooding parks!

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall or DBKL announced that Taman Tasik Titiwangsa will be closed again for an indefinite period of time as too many people have been visiting the park.

“This is to prevent any outbreak of Covid-19 because of the high number of people visiting the park,” said DBKL in a statement posted on their Facebook page yesterday (28th May)."

“However, jogging activities are still allowed outside and around the park.”

A DBKL spokesman told the Star that the closure of the park was prompted by visitors who disobeyed the directives set by the government.

"Some families visited the park to have picnics, which is not allowed, and some even cut our yellow tape around playground sets for their children to play in.”

"Our officers will be monitoring the other parks in the city and if we find similar behaviour, we will have no choice but to close those parks as well," he said, urging the public to obey by the CMCO.

Following the introduction of the CMCO on 4th May, DBKL had previously announced that all parks under its administration would be opened for individual joggers, which includes parks such as Taman Rimba, Taman Botani Perdana and Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.

However, amenities such as football fields, sports halls, fields and playgrounds were still closed for use.

Let’s hope with the park’s closure, more people would take the CMCO more seriously so as to avoid more nice things being taken away from us.
