The weather has been rather unforgiving lately, with heavy thunderstorms and erratic rainy spells happening from time to time.

Continuous heavy rains caused a number of roads in Kuala Lumpur to be affected by flash floods. The roads included heavy-traffic roads like Jalan Duta, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim in both directions and Lebuhraya Mahameru at the exit to Parliament.

The ITIS DBKL Twitter account reported that three vehicles got caught in the flood at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim and at the Duta Tunnel, both lanes were closed off. It wasn’t until 8.15 pm that the water levels subsided and the tunnel reopened.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief ACP Zulkifly Yahya told Bernama that there were police personnel on site at the affected areas to help with traffic flow.

No accidents were reported but we sure hope this doesn’t happen again.
