Starry Eyed For Starhill Gallery

The landmark that is Starhill Gallery will be undergoing a makeover. In 2021, the iconic building along Jalan Bukit Bintang will be revealed as The Starhill.

Located in the heart of the city, the upscale mall will be transformed according to a new concept which combines hospitality and retail into one, so visitors can shop in a luxurious and homey environment (It’s like they want us to stay there and shop more!).

There will be four floors of retail and three floors of hotel rooms under the JW Marriott KL brand so you can literally shop until you drop. Combining both JW Marriott KL and The Ritz-Carlton KL, there will be over 1100 rooms connected to the Starhill building come 2021.

“With fast-changing values and consumption behaviour among savvy and socially-connected consumers, the transformation to become The Starhill is in line with the need for retail malls to constantly evolve and differentiate to stay at the forefront of the changing retail landscape,” YTL Land & Development Bhd VP Joseph Yeoh told Inside Retail Asia.

“The concept of The Starhill reinforces our positioning as the place to be in Bukit Bintang – an exclusive urban oasis focused on experiences in a refined and polished retail environment,” he added.

Visitors can also expect new fixings like a double-volume entrance atrium featuring a green wall with multiple LED screens. In the central atrium, there will be a new connecting bridge across the atrium as well as cantilevered balconies designed as pop-up spaces!

This month, some parts of Starhill Gallery will be closed for renovation while there will also be some brands operating. Phase one of the renovations is due to be completed by the second quarter of next year.
