Getting last isn’t a place anyone would want to be in, but that was what happened to the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon.

This isn’t just any marathon we are talking about here - it’s one of the biggest ones in our nation!

In a ranking by Sole, a UK-based trainer review and news site, the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon got 3.69 out of 10, which is the lowest among all 81 marathons on the list.

Contributing factors included air pollution, the climate, slow average finish times, as well as a lack of medical aid along the route.

Coming in at second worst place was IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon StanChart’s Singapore marathon at third.

According to an article published by Sole, the ranking took into account conditions like air quality, altitude, average temperature and rainfall, starting entry fees, refreshment stations, and toilets, among other things - all of which are crucial in ensuring everyone has a good experience.

Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore received criticism for the choice of date - it was one of the nation’s busiest times, given that it was Singapore’s year end holiday period. Consequently, the event caused hours of congestion in the city centre.

Did you attend any of these marathons and how was your experience?
