Six individuals were issued a RM5,000 compound each for crossing state borders for a vacation in Pulau Redang, Terengganu.

According to Astro AWANI, Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa said the compound against them, who are aged between 32 and 47, were issued through an integrated operation in compliance with Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan for the Tourism Sector conducted on September 24th and September 25th.

He said two of them had crossed state borders from Kuala Lumpur, two others from Selangor while the other two were from Penang and Melaka.

“Such operations will be continued from time to time to ensure that no violation of the SOP occurs to prevent an increase in cases of infection and transmission of COVID-19 in Terengganu,” he said.

He also warned the public that stern action would be taken against resort operators who ignored the SOPs, as well as allowing tourists from outside of Terengganu to stay in their premises for the purpose of travel and also failing to ensure the guests are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

This is very irresponsible, guys! Please abide by the SOPs.

Take care and stay safe, everyone.
