Datuk Saifuddin said: “I am aware that the issue is not just about COVID-19 but also about those who have been separated from their loved ones even before the start of the pandemic on March 18th, 2020.

“I will try to see how we can overcome this together,” he added as reported by The Straits Times.

He also said that he was informed that the Health Minister has spoken with his Singaporean counterparts on how borders can be reopened between the two countries.

Saifuddin said that the reopening of borders between Malaysia and Singapore would pave the way for the country to open up air routes with other neighbouring countries like Thailand.

Muar MP, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he has received numerous pleas from Malaysians, who have not seen their loved ones for two years.

“This has led to mental problems for some, including divorces between married couples who have been separated,” he said.

Meanwhile, Johor’s Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad said Johor will be submitting its proposal to Putrajaya to open up the border with Singapore through the Daily Commuting Arrangement (DCA).

Hasni added that the state government was also working to boost the percentage of COVID-19 vaccinations in Johor by obtaining data on Johor employees who received their vaccination in Singapore so that they can be immediately updated in the MySejahtera app.

We’re so happy that soon families will be reunited again!

In the meantime, don’t forget to follow all the SOPs that have been implemented by the government and please get yourself vaccinated as well!

Stay safe, guys.
