Considering the government’s initiative to decrease the transmission of COVID-19, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) will be postponing its Closed Toll systems RFID launch that was initially planned for 1st April 2020.
PLUS released an official statement on its website, explaining the move.
“In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and personal health of PLUS employees and highway customers are of paramount importance. Hence, all testing and progressive work is halted under the “Movement Control Order (MCO).”
PLUS reassures the public that all work to fully complete RFID readiness on PLUS-operated highways will resume once the government’s MCO is lifted.
“At PLUS, we believe the MCO as an important move to protect the health, safety and well-being of not just our employee but all Malaysians from the threat of Covid-19. Based on this principle, we have decided to defer the launch of RFID payment system on PLUS and LPT2 highways to a new date upon the lifting of the MCO,” said PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail.
Upon completion, all 83 PLUS and 10 LPT2 (East Coast) Closed System toll plazas will be equipped with RFID facilities.
For the time being, avoid driving outside unless necessary and just stay home!
