Malaysia recorded 27,831 new infections on Wednesday (February 16th) which is the highest daily COVID-19 infections since the pandemic begans almost two years ago.

As of today, Malaysia recorded 202,884 active cases. Out of that, 190,268 of them are under home quarantine while 6,907 are getting treatment in hospitals, 5,505 are being quarantined at the COVID-19 quarantine and treatment centers (PKRC) and 204 are being treated in the intensive care units (ICU).
According to NST, the Health Ministry announced that education clusters accounted for 75% of the 28 clusters reported on Wednesday.
The ministry has identified 21 education clusters, four workplace clusters, one detention center cluster, one imported cluster and one high-risk group cluster.
These clusters have so far recorded 701 cases.
Meanwhile, the country recorded 21 new COVID-19 deaths including nine brought-in-dead cases. The death toll now stands at 32,201.

Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah reported that the national infectivity rate, Rt, has dropped to 1.32 as of Wednesday.
