Remember as a kid, how we would spend hours and hours sitting on the floor of a bookstore, devouring every single Enid Blyton book while our parents’ shop…
The well-known bookstore chain in Malaysia, MPH Bookstores appears to be winding down their businesses as more and more people are drawn to reading electronic books or eBooks, and audiobooks.
Recently, Facebook user Zatika Izati Puade shared an update, revealing a large number of MPH outlets that have announced clearance sales and store closures.
At least nine MPH Bookstores will be closed down soon, of which include:
MPH Amanjaya (CLOSED)
MPH Sunway GEO Avenue (CLOSED)
MPH SACC Mall
MPH MyTown (CLOSING 6 JUNE)
MPH JB City Square
MPH Kinta City
MPH MYDIN MITC (CLOSED)
MPH Taman Universiti
MPH Subang Parade (CLOSING 6 JUNE)
Malay Mail reported that the MPH Bookstore staff members confirmed that the MyTown and Subang Parade outlets will close officially this Saturday (June 6), while another outlet in Sunway Geo Avenue has already been closed.
A photo taken at MPH MyTown showed that the shelves were almost bare, there were taped up boxes everywhere, and most of the books were heavily discounted by up to 70% to clear up the available stocks.
You can still make a trip to the bookstore while they’re still operating and maybe pick up a book or two, just for old times sake.
