Only 10% of staff are allowed to work in offices in Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) areas, under the government’s mandatory work from home directive.
The International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said it applies to workers in accounting, finance, administration, law, planning and ICT.
These employees can only be in the office for four hours, from 10:00am to 2:00pm for three days a week.
MITI is taking into account the needs of industries that need the presence of a small number of workers at the management and supervisory level.
Companies do not have to submit applications for these workers.
Employers will only have to issue letters of approval for travel for each employee who is allowed to work throughout the CMCO period.
As for civil servants, a maximum 30% of staff in ministries, government departments and agencies are allowed to be present in the office.
The Public Service Department (JPA) said department heads must ensure that all managerial and administrative officers who are not required to be in the office, must work from home whether on rotation or on a full-time basis.
This follows a directive from the National Security Council for workers in the public and private sectors in states under the CMCO involved in management and supervision to work from home starting tomorrow (October 22nd).
The affected states are Selangor, Sabah and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
