She first started the #MayaKarinChallenge (of people submerging in water - showing the cleanliness and purity of Malaysia rivers) in 2018, and it quickly went viral on social media.

As you may knowm the number of our Malayan tigers have been rapidly decreasing, and this time, Maya has taken up a campaign to help save them!

According to The Star, Maya said the river challenges that started in September 2018 is still getting people’s attention.

“I don’t want to stick to just one campaign and now I’ve taken on another campaign to save the tigers,” she said.

Maya noted that there are only about 200 Malayan tigers left in Malaysia and people should be aware of the decreasing number and take action.

“There are some who feel why should they be the ones worrying because there are 200 Malayan tigers left. But they have to bear in mind that the mating process to get cubs is not easy.”

She also added, “if that figure falls to 120, the government can declare the species as extinct. So, I will think about what we can do to raise awareness.”

We need to save our tiger friends, and Maya Karin is doing just THAT!
