According to NST, a team of firemen had to cut open the house gate after all efforts to convince him to open the grille failed.

Senawang Fire and Rescue Station operation officer Zainurin Sarip said a team of firemen arrived at the house around 9 pm the following night (June 22nd), and found that the 31-year-old man, who had lost his job since March last year, had refused to let his wife and two children out since morning.

“We got reports of a man suffering from emotional distress who had locked both his front and back gates. At first, we tried persuading him but he refused to give in. We even got his brother from Mambau to persuade him, but that too, didn’t work.

“After about 15 minutes, we had no choice but to pry the grilles open and cut the locks in the house to save the wife and kids,” he said.

His wife and two children, aged one-year-old and four-month-old were unharmed and were sent to a neighbour’s house for temporary shelter.

According to his wife, his behaviour started to change after losing his job and the stress had escalated over the past few days.

“The man had also damaged the woman's mobile phone recently so she could not communicate with anyone outside. There was also food left at the gate by delivery riders that had not been touched,” said Zainurin.

The man surrendered himself to the police and was later released to his brother.

We’re glad that the family is now okay, and we wish them all the best!
