Here’s a quick recap: The 24-year-old was caught on CCTV early Monday morning, placing a cat into a washing machine at a self-service laundry located in Desa Aman Puri, Kepong.
A witness lodged a police report after she found three dead cats in three separate washing machines at the same outlet later that same morning.
The suspect, Muhammad Najwan Zulkefli, was eventually apprehended.
Today, Najwan was charged with animal cruelty at the Selayang Sessions court, an offence which carries a maximum fine of RM100,000 or imprisonment for up to three years or both, upon conviction.
Najwan, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor then applied for him to be sent to a hospital for a month’s observation, to which the court allowed.
