Shereen Vallabouy, a Malaysian speedster has recently won the indoor 400 meters in second-tier US college athletics.
At the commencement of the 2021-22 US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) division II track and field season, approximately 300 teams and over 1,000 individual competitors competed for the women’s indoor 400 meters title.

The 23-year-old was the best of the finest 400-meter runners last Saturday at Pittsburg State University in Kansas, the USA setting a new championship mark and a Malaysian record of 53.79.
Her feat came after an amazing indoor season in which she set a 12-year-old Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record by running 54.94 last month.
Shereen became the first Malaysian female runner to complete the indoor 400m in sub 54 seconds, breaking Noraseela Mohd Khalid's national record of 54.58 set in 2006.
Shereen Vallabouy's exploits at the division II meetings of the United States National Collegiate Athletic Association demonstrated how far courage and ambition can go.

Shereen is the youngest daughter of former national athlete, Samson Vallabouy and Olympian mother Josephine Mary, Malaysia's most decorated middle-distance racing couple.
Shereen's record-breaking senior season received rave accolades in the United States and she is also the first overseas student-athlete to achieve this accomplishment.
