A businessman in Sibu was cheated of RM266,153 after placing orders for 20,000 boxes of face masks.
According to The Star, Police OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said he received a call from a Singaporean friend who required these face masks as the island was out of stock.

Of course, his first thought was to help his friend in need, so he wrote on his Facebook asking where he would be able to place orders for the face masks.
Soon after, a person identified as ‘Heston Seah’ responded, claiming to have them in stock and that they cost S$14 (RM42) per box in Singapore.
He accepted the offer and bought the face masks in bulk, banked in the money and told his friend that the shipment would arrive at his home address in Singapore.
But unfortunately, no parcel came…‘Heston’ could not be reached and had gone missing.
ACP Stanley said that the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
Guys, please be careful when you’re buying things online!
