Fatalities due to COVID-19 have passed the 5,000-mark, after 57 new deaths were reported on Monday (June 28th).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 5,001 cases.
According to NST, the breakdown of the 57 fatalities nationwide was 15 in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan (13), Johor (6), Melaka (5), three each in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Perak, two each in Sarawak, Kedah, Pahang and Kelantan, and one in Penang.
DG Hisham said that 54 of the victims were Malaysians while three were foreigners, aged between 33 and 96, including four brought-in-dead cases.
It’s understood that the majority of them had underlying health problems.

The total number of cases in the country now stands at 739,266 infections, with 61,812 being active cases.
