Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said that it was agreed by his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, during his visit to make Malaysia a priority recipient for their COVID-19 vaccine, as reported by BERNAMA.

In a press conference on Tuesday (13 October), Datuk Seri Hishammuddin said: “We also welcomed China’s agreement to encourage Chinese enterprises to establish all-round cooperation with Malaysian partners in vaccine research and development, and distribution.”

“China has agreed to give Malaysia the priority recipient status for the COVID-19 vaccine. Though the process of finishing the vaccine is still ongoing, so far the process is going well,” he continued in a tweet.

The two Foreign Ministers also discussed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation between both countries post-COVID-19.

There’s still a long way to go until a vaccine is found, so in the meantime, let’s work together to flatten the curve!

Remember to always maintain social distancing, wear a face mask when you’re out in public and wash your hands regularly!
