Malaysia Has Recorded Over 20,000 COVID-19 Cases So Far

On Sunday (18 October), the country recorded a daily high of new COVID-19 infections for a second consecutive day with 871 new cases, bringing the national total to 20,498 - surpassing the 20,000-mark. 

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that five of the new cases are imported and 866 are local infections, while the majority of which were from Sabah with 701 new cases.

Meanwhile, Malaysia also recorded the highest number of recovered cases yesterday with 701 individuals discharged from hospitals nationwide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,262. 

DG Hisham added that there were seven new COVID-19 deaths, which raised the overall death toll to 187.

Six fatalities were recorded in Sabah while the other was in Selangor.

Remember to always follow the SOPs implemented by the government! Stay at home if you’re in the CMCO areas and only leave for work or to get groceries.
