He explains, Malaysia has learnt from other countries, where the coronavirus outbreak worsened after restrictions were lifted prematurely.

He adds, the government plans to reopen several economic sectors in stages.

A special cabinet committee will meet, to identify the sectors involved

However, schools will remain closed, possibly beyond April 28th, until authorities are confident that the outbreak has been fully contained.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin also said that even after the MCO is lifted, Malaysians will have to get used to a new normal, and continue practicing social distancing, good personal hygiene, and avoid crowded places.

Meanwhile, the govt may raise the one thousand ringgit compound amount for those caught defying the MCO.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri says this is to ensure that more people comply with the order.

Nearly 400 people were handed the compound yesterday.
