The incident allegedly happened at 6pm in which the man fired several shots, hitting both guards one of whom died later. The suspect then managed to flee with an unspecified amount of cash and the security van was later found 10km away from the location.
According to the New Straits Times, four guards from a security agency were sent to collect money from banks, where two of them went into the bank before the robbery, while one guard and the van driver remained outside.
“The suspect is claimed to have calmly approached the security vehicles, then drew out a revolver and fired at the two guards,” said a source.
Despite his panic, the van driver loaded one of the injured guards into the van and drove until they arrived in Puchong Perdana, but the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The other guard, who had been shot in the ribs, was sent to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after the robbery.
