Katy Perry was recently seen in a stunning dress created by Malaysian fashion designer, Khoon Hooi, for the Jingle Ball event in Minneapolis in the US.

The singer looked effortlessly gorgeous in the yellow Mara gown that featured an oversized bow, covered with shiny studs, complete with pockets! The gown was part of Khoon Hooi 2020’s Mara Gown collection and Perry completely had us mesmerized with the gown by pairing it with diamond earrings and a quirky bob haircut.

The Perak-born designer is well known for his intricately beautiful creations. A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art in 1993,  Khoon has won many awards as a designer from the second runner-up for the ASEAN Young Designer Award in 1996 to bagging the  grand prize at the Asian Young Designer Award in Japan the following year.

Khoon launched his label in 1999 with his current boutique, located in Jalan Riong, Bangsar, and has had his work honoured by several fashion awards including the Harper’s Bazaar Style Award, Malaysia International Fashion Award and even the prestigious International Recognition at Bangkok International Fashion Week.

Besides Katy Perry, Khoon’s Fall 2019 collection was also donned by model and actress Camila Morrone. The Argentinian-American supermodel paraded Khoon’s Catalina dress at the 2019 Marrakech International Film Festival last week in Morocco.

Well done Khoon Hooi. Malaysians are beaming with pride!
