Interstate Travel For Tourism Allowed Between RMCO States, Subject To SOPs

interstate travel for tourism allowed between rmco states, subject to sops

Those staying in areas under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) will be allowed to travel to other RMCO areas, but only for tourism purposes, starting tomorrow (March 10th).

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the targeted travel bubble will be subject to strict SOPs.

Such travel must be organised by government-registered tour agencies and travellers must have police permission before being allowed to proceed.

He added that travellers must use tour vehicles registered with the government, as the use of private vehicles is not allowed.

Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Labuan, Putrajaya, and Sabah are states currently under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), but Ismail said that the travel bubble will include Langkawi.

This is because starting tomorrow, the area will no longer be under a Conditional MCO (CMCO), and will instead be placed under the RMCO.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 cases continue to show a downward trend, after only 1,280 infections were reported today (March 9th).

Selangor had the highest number of cases with 464 cases, followed by 165 in Johor, and Sarawak (163).

Nine more fatalities were recorded, raising the death toll to 1,186.

Stay safe, everyone!
