Indonesian YouTube star Edo Putra was arrested along with his friend on Monday (August 3rd), after the pair were seen in a viral video pulling a Hari Raya Haji prank on their neighbours.
In the video, the two can be seen giving two women what is thought to be two bags of sacrificial meat, which turned out to be garbage.
They also told the women not to open the bags until they’ve dispersed.
The video, which has been removed from YouTube, of course did not fare well with netizens, garnering more dislikes than likes; 190,000 to 6,000.
Edo and his friends have been charged with violating fake news and community disturbance laws in Indonesia and if convicted, they face up to 10 years in jail.
As much as we’re all for creative content, if it involves endangering and hurting other people, maybe it’s best to stay silent.
