Former national cyclist Ishak Alwi died on Saturday (August 7th) of COVID-19.
His brother, Rosman Alwi, who is also a former national cyclist, said apart from cracking jokes, his brother was also “loud” and the one who would always voice out his opinions on issues close to him.

According to BERNAMA, the 55-year-old died at the Ampang Hospital late Saturday after contracting COVID-19.
He leaves behind his wife, Zariah Ismail and five children.
Rosman told reporters that Ishak was rushed to the hospital after becoming weak on Friday (August 6th).
“I made a video call to his son to inform the status of his father and told him not to panic. The ambulance then arrived and he was brought to the hospital.
But his condition worsened and he later passed away. The doctor who treated him then said that he has COVID-19,” he said.
Ishak went into business after retiring, but cycling was still close to his heart and would drop by the Cheras Velodrome once in a while to support local cyclists.
He is well-known in the sprints and the one kilometre time trial and had represented the country at the World Youth Championship in Paris in 1984.
