According to NST, a 25-year-old villager named Shazwan said the elephant was found by neighbors passing the area while heading to their rubber estate at about 7:30 am.
“I saw the elephant in a seated position and there were some blood stains in its feces.
“Perhaps the elephant had consumed plants that had been sprayed with herbicide or fertilizer,” he told reporters.
Shazwan also said that villagers had spotted a group of seven elephants wandering in the rubber estates and there might be a possibility that the dead female elephant was from the same herd.

The state Wildlife and National Parks Department (PERHILITAN) director, Jamalun Nasir Ibrahim said that his department was alerted to the discovery of the dead elephant at about 8:30 in the morning.
“A forensic team from our headquarters in Kuala Lumpur are on their way and will be investigating the cause of death,” he said.
This is heartbreaking.
