According to the New Straits Times, Jusoh sustained burns on his back and legs in the 10:35 am fire that killed his wife.
Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department director, Md Hilman Ab Rashid said Jusoh suffered about 30% burns and was currently being treated at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ).
“We received a call at 10:39 am and deployed 35 firemen and four fire engines from the Kuala Terengganu and Jalan Kota stations to the scene. When we arrived at the scene, we saw that Jusoh’s house was already 80% burnt. The couple’s house was completely destroyed, while the other two houses were about 50% burnt,” he explained.
Firefighters took about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control and completely doused it 30 minutes later.
Fatimah’s remains were later found in the house and were handed to the police for further action.
Md Hilman added that Jusoh failed to save his wife due to his limited mobility and sustained burns from the fire.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
We’re glad that Pak Cik Jusoh is okay, our sincerest condolences go out to the families affected by the fire.
