The LRT serves as the main mode of transportation to many, so just imagine the havoc that breaks out when the system goes down.
Just a few hours ago, at 5.37am, the RapidKL Twitter page posted an announcement advising commuters to take alternative transport as the Kelana Jaya LRT line was encountering massive congestion and delays. This was all due to a delayed maintenance car between the Jelatek and Dato’ Keramat LRT stations.
There was no clear timetable provided as to when service would resume, but the latest update as of 9.14am. was that trains were moving as usual from the Putra Heights to the Gombak LRT station. Trains from Gombak to Setiawangsa, however, would be diverted to the next track before going to Putra Heights.
Netizens did not respond well to the announcement and the delays, saying that service was definitely not back to normal. According to some Twitter users, the trains were taking far longer than what was promised. Other netizens, meanwhile, complained that the statements released by RapidKL was confusing and lacked details and transparency. Communication is key and while we ourselves aren’t there to experience the chaos, we sure hope all commuters who are affected will be able to get things sorted out soon!
RapidKL also said that users will receive a full refund of their fares, while Touch ‘n’ Go users will have to go to the customer service windows to receive a refund voucher before tapping out as usual.
