A couple in India is suing their son and daughter-in-law for RM2.86 million if they do not give them a grandchild within a year.

According to Malay Mail, they are seeking compensation for the cost of their wedding ceremony which was held at a five-star hotel, purchasing a luxury car for RM351,000, and their honeymoon expenses.

“My son and his wife have been married for six years and have yet to have a child. At the very least, having a grandchild to spend time with will make our pain bearable,” he told The National.

Sanjeev also said that they had to take out a loan to build their house and are now in serious financial trouble.

The pair went on to say that society is pressuring them and had been asking them about their grandchild’s arrival, which is causing them even more pain.

Arvind Kumar Srivastava, the Sinhas’ lawyer claimed the elderly couple had spent roughly 25 million rupees, which is around RM1.42 million on their son since his birth, excluding additional expenses like his wedding.

“Every parent’s dream is to become a grandparent. They’ve demanded the money because of mental abuse,” he added.
