Kedah recorded 2,733 COVID-19 infections on Monday (February 14th), making it the highest daily infections ever recorded in the state since the pandemic began almost two years ago.
According to NST, authorities found that failure of the COVID-19 close contacts to comply with the SOPs was the leading contributor to the spike. Alamak!

The state’s Health director Dr. Othman Warijo told the New Straits Times that close contacts topped the number of positive cases with 985 infections or 36.04% of the total 2,733 new cases, followed by screening on symptomatic patients with 984 cases or 36% and self-test with 652 infections or 23.86%.
The data also suggests that the close contacts of COVID-19 positive cases failed to adhere to the SOPs,” he said.
He also reminded the public that it’s very important to follow the SOPs that have been set by the government in order to curb the virus transmissions among immediate family members and close contact.
