China Discovers Mangosteen, Said It’s “Not Good” Because They Bite Into The Skin Like An Apple!

Some famous seasonal fruits that you can find in Malaysia include durian, mangosteen, rambutan, duku, langsat, and pulasan!

It’s not only seasonal, it’s also very, very hard to find elsewhere unless you’re living in a Southeast Asian country, so lucky us!

Our tropical fruits like mangosteen and durian are also heavily exported to other countries like China, especially during the summer when the Chinese will start looking for these unique fruits to try as our fruits are highly recommended there!

But sadly, not everyone knows how to properly eat the mangosteen. But, we don’t blame them though, as mangosteen is a very rare fruit that even some Malaysians don’t know how to properly eat them.

In a series of photos that went viral on the Chinese social media application, XiaoHongShu shows a bunch of mangosteens that are not even properly peeled, and were thrown into the rubbish bin because apparently the fruit was extremely expensive and it’s “not even good.”

The user also described the fruit to be very bitter, and it’s because they tried to eat the fruit like an apple, biting into the skin instead…

Chinese netizens were amused and started teasing the author saying that it’s actually an exotic kind of garlic. Others jokingly said that the “inner white part of the garlic is actually poisonous.”

How funny!

Many others even shared a similar photo of the mangosteen with a chunk taken out of its skin with the caption: “Why do people even like this fruit? I heard you have to throw away the white part because it’s not good for you!”

But yes, they were only joking! Many of them DO know how to eat the mangosteen and find the fruit delicious and very refreshing, which we agree!

So Malaysians, don’t worry ah… The Chinese do know how to properly peel the mangosteen and they do appreciate our fruits!
