If you heard news of someone offering a “cure” for COVID-19, don’t fall for it!
During his daily press briefing yesterday (October 22nd) Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah warned Malaysians against blindly believing stories of certain products that can apparently cure COVID-19.
“We are aware that many parties have claimed that their medicine, including foods, can cure COVID-19 patients. At the moment, there is no medicine that can effectively cure COVID-19. These include hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir, and remdesivir,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham pointed out that if there was a cure, the person behind it would’ve been a millionaire by now.
He said this when he was asked to comment on a drug advertisement online, promoting a medicine from China which can supposedly cure COVID-19, being sold for RM12.
Dr Noor Hisham added that Malaysia is currently using dexamethasone to treat our COVID-19 patients, which is a drug that prevents pneumonia and has positive effects on their health.
Be wary of fake news!
