According to a report released yesterday (July 30th) by the Global COVID-19 Index (GCI), Thailand has taken the world’s top spot for its effective handling of the coronavirus crisis.
Not only that, Thailand also led the way as the country with the highest COVID-19 recovery index.
The report gave our neighbours a score of 82.06, putting it on top of the global chart as an example of best practices in tackling the coronavirus, which is still at large.
As for Malaysia, we are in fourth place with a score of 79.37, behind Latvia (80.81) and South Korea (81.09).
Thailand ranked second in last month’s (June 14th) stats among 184 countries.
Australia, which topped the chart in previous months, now ranks sixth, with a recovery index of 77.18.
As it stands, 3,111 out of 3,298 people in Thailand have recovered from COVID-19, with 129 cases still active.
Meanwhile in Malaysia, out of 8,956 cases, 8,612 people have recovered, with 220 active cases.
