COVID-19: Malaysia Breaches 5K-Mark In New Cases, With Over 3K In Selangor Alone

covid-19: malaysia breaches 5k-mark in new cases, with over 3k in selangor alone

Malaysia has reached another record of new COVID-19 cases, with 5,725 infections today (January 29th).

Selangor had the highest number of cases, with 3,126, followed by 687 in KL, and Johor 684.

The Health Ministry (MOH) also detected 16 more fatalities, raising the death toll to 733.

Meanwhile, The Finance Ministry (MOF) said there are no plans to implement a total lockdown on the economy, even if the number of cases continue to rise, adding that the government will instead focus on enforcing tighter SOPs.

The daily number of COVID-19 infections could go down by up to 50 percent, if everyone continues following strict SOPs.

Health experts also told the New Straits Times that the Movement Control Order (MCO) should be prolonged, to give health authorities a chance to control the current coronavirus outbreak.

They believe the MCO should be extended until at least the end of next month.

That definitely seems like a good idea. What do you guys think?

Please continue to follow SOPs and stay safe, people!
