The government has announced that due to the increase of COVID-19 positive numbers in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan, Selangor and Sabah, CMCO measures must be tightened.
Therefore, upon the advice of the Health Ministry (MOH), it has been decided that employees in the public and private sector at the management and supervision levels will be told to work from home starting this Thursday (October 22nd).
Employers are instructed to prepare exemption letters for employees that are required to work from the office.
However, these employees will be required to undergo a COVID-19 swab test, if they’re from red zone hotspots.

The decision is expected to affect around a million workers across both the public and private sectors.
During his daily press briefing today (October 20th), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob that “the full list of those affected, as well as, standard operating procedures will be issued by the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) soon.”
We await further news and clarification about the recent decision.
Meanwhile, Ismail also said that it is uncertain whether the CMCO will be extended or ended.
He warned the public against ‘fake news,’ clarifying that any COVID-19 related news that is not announced by the Health Ministry, Director-General or himself are fake.
He advised the public to tune into the daily press conferences for official news about any changes the near future may bring.
