All this talk about the CMCO, the new work-from-home directive, and the number of new COVID-19 cases rising has gotten Malaysians all confused!
So it’s no surprise that many people have started to panic buy, just as they did the first time the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented in March.
But we’re here to tell you, STOP PANIC BUYING!
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has assured that there is sufficient supply of essential items, especially food, as Malaysia rides its third wave of COVID-19.
“Avoid panic buying, especially during the enforcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), as it will create excess and waste. It will also cause price hikes,” said Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid.
He added that consumers should plan their expenditure before making purchases, and also reminded the public to follow SOPs whilst shopping.
Rosol also insisted that prices of essential items are stable saying, “KPDNHEP monitors the supply chain of goods at the level of manufacturers, farmers, wholesalers and retailers to ensure an adequate supply of goods as well as to avoid the issue of price manipulation by traders.”
Here's how you can go grocery shopping safely in these trying times:
So no need to panic, people! There’s enough for all of us to get through this.
